Lots of shield bugs around. Here are some photos from today. It took me a long time to rake the leaves. I would toss a few into the bag, and a bunch of critters would run out, so I would photograph them.
1. Shield bug. Is it ok that he is centered? I thought it worked well because it looks like he's walking down from the peak, which he was.

2. I don't know what this is a photo of. It was inside a fairly tightly wound web, and it looks like an old butterfly chrysalis perhaps? Would a spider have built a web around that? Also, at the base of the shell, is a ball of spikes. Man, it's all kinda weird. Found it tucked in a corner of my garage.

4. Ant mimic spider. The only one I've ever seen. It's not a great photo, and seriously cropped. It was tiny, and my reversed 50 couldn't get close enough. I was just happy to notice it:

5. Who wouldn't stop raking leaves for a while to get a photo of these guys?
