To all noobs and lurkers, where have you gone ? We were off to a good start earlier and then the bottom fell out , Consistency , Consistency , that's what we need or these forums come a grind and it gets very boring . I seem to pat the same members on the back , I'm ready to pat some new ones.

It's not so much the lack of new people posting pics although that's what it's all about , sharing and learning form each other . A simply reply by everyone with some honest critique. The party may not want or ask for it but it it gets the dialog going between shooters .

I've been keeping an eye on you.

Well it has been a long time, since I have been lurking. Just very busy with my divorce and work. One reason I got into photography was so we could do something together for fun. I bought her a nice camera, then she slowly lost her mind. Now I'm the one serious into photography. I have been occasionally posting on the landscape forum, but I am really most interested in macro and made most my posts in here.
So since the challenge was put out I found a pic to post. My main computer is taken down as I am remodelling, so here is a pic from a year ago.

I think it is as follows.
F16 @ 1/160th and a +1exp comp
Taken with a Nikon D60 and an oldie, but goodie the microNikor 105mm that has to be 30 yrs old.
I like how the background turned out. It was taken with I think @ 1/2 flash and several layers of tissue as a diffuser over my mylar lined home made flash tube.

Jonathan: re: Focus stacking... Phil (Goldenorfe) put together a tutorial recently in this thread... https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/936420. Perhaps start a new topic regarding info on the subject and I'm sure those who use it often and best at it will give a some great info.

Welcome to you all and congrats for posting. Just one suggestion: start a new thread under your username and tell us who you are; we're a friendly bunch, by and large, and are on a firstname basis. Tom didn't specify that but I'm sure it's what he meant.

Well it looks like we have some shooters coming out of the wood work. Like Kenny has mentioned make your own post and start getting replies , critique, and all the accolades that go with it .

Cute post Tom. I browse through occassionally. The reason I quit posting here is because this seems to be the bug forum. And then it went to the macro stacking bug forum. I prefer regular shots with a macro lense or closeups of anything but bugs.
So theirfore I don't think I fit well here. Like I said, I still browse through occassionally looking for something other than bugs, but rarely find it. Just giving feed back here.

Thanks Y, winter is coming on for most of use and the bug shots will drop off some . Please don't stop posting , instead start a challenge thread on a subject you would like to see shot . Believe me other will participate. Flowers , watches , jewelry, seeds, abstracts, what ever.

Yep, pretty soon it'll just be the guys down in Oz and Kurt in Malaysia posting bugs.

We'll be reduced to shooting soap bubbles or some such.

I have been a lurker for a while then decided to join. I joined the image upload but I can't find a way to post my pics. I'm sure this is user error, but don't know what to do. Can't find a way to email Fred and get help from him. Can anyone help me please?

Sheri ,I had the same problem yesterday.I resized the images so it was 800 on the long side.If the file is to large it will not post.I pm'ed Fred and he got back to me in short order but i figured it out by then.If that does not work post again and I will walk you through it.I was very frustrated last night also.

I really miss doing this. Learned it from a Brazilian while working on the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.

I guess when bug season dies down, so does this forum. Okay I will start some other challenge threads and see how that goes. This could be a fun.

Doesn't really die down...the shooters down in the southern hemisphere are in their peak season during our winter. Guys from Australia, New Zealand, etc will be shooting and posting and keeping us entertained. Kurt(orionmystery) seems to find critters year-round.
