The meter sure looks interesting. Note the part about eventually being available for other light systems.

That's what they told me too. It's got a 2.4 Ghz Radio built in and a USB port for charging and for software updates. Once they develop more radio modules, they will release a new software which brings additional radio support for other flash systems. They were not saying anything definite, but want the meter to be available this year.

I just thought it was confusing to use. Maybe this will get better, but to be honest I expect a meter to be intuitive to use and at the booth this was definitely not intuitive.

All meters take a little getting used to, and when it's set let's be honest it's set.
The only thing I would love to have in it is a reflective meter with spot, now it has a very wide reflective meter and I would only switch from the Sekonic when it has a spot meter.

But it does look promising.

It does have a spot meter. It's actually got three different metering modes built in. There's a ring around the white dome which you can turn to select the mode. In the leftmost position, the dome is used in a normal way. Turn the ring around approximately 90° and the dome is pulled back into the housing, giving you a recessed surface which they call 'flat diffuser characteristic'. There's one more click stop for the ring which doesn't change anything mechanically, but switches to completely different measuring optics for spot metering. This is in the top right corner of the casing, pointing towards the front.

I saw that but try to aim a 1-5 degree spot without having a viewfinder :-)
Could be with a lasterpointer in the studio but I would prefer a system like the Sekonics where you look through a viewfinder to see where you are aiming.

I use it to measure the backgrounds or sky, and that's often aiming with the viewfinder I could never do that without some sort of visable aid.

I would love to see a lithium battery option for the Quadra. It'd be amazing if it was backwards compatible with the 1st generation packs!

Still looking forward to the "October" USA release of the 70cm Baby Deep Octa.

There's zero reasons why it shouldn't be.

It's on the distributor website here in Australia, so that's a good sign.

I'm much more interested in the 150cm indirect. The 70cm baby octa would be nice, but for wedding work, it's a bit small, considering the dresses brides wear.

Hi, I have about 9k+ worth of lighting equipment.

I do have to ask. My bet is that it will be around ~700.

Oh, while we're at it: There was a new Softlite/Beauty dish at the show. It was about the same size as the 44cm but had a different mount (riveted on, not molded in one piece) and a slightly different shape at the rim. Does anyone know anything about this? The guy at the booth was clueless.

Probably just the same thing, only outsourced to another, cheaper factory in the far east.

Look at this,
http://www.robertwhite.co.uk/product.asp?P_ID=1517&P=Softboxes

It looks like pricing for the new indirect Rotalux 175 (model 26188), was this the modifier that was used on the Eli catalog shoot?

It seems to be a typo, the regular 175 Octa is nr. 26186.
The new one is 150 cm. the number is indeed 26188.
Official name is: Rotalux Deep Indirect 150 cm.
