Hello,

I'm new on this forum. I had a look into different categories and didn't found if we need to present ourself. so, I will do that very briefly here into my first post.

I'm from Belgium, doing photography since years and I'm mainly interested by all alternatives gear and lenses.

I already have a nice collection of good old stuffs but do not often find enough free time to use it.

So, last week, this was exceptional for me to get 3 free hours for a walk in "Citadelle de Namur" during a nice sunny day.

I was with a Canon 1Ds camera, a Carl Zeiss Sonnar 180mm 2.8 for Pentacon Six and a Russian Tilt Adapter for this lens.

Personally, I like the result (but photography is always very suggestive matter) and want to know if someone else here is using this kind of configuration: Tilt with long focal.

Nice results you have. I'm contemplating the same adapter too to go with 180/2.8 and 80/2.8 CZJ lenses.
I suppose you shot them handheld. Is it difficult? Can you describe the workflow? 180 is quite a heavy beast.
You can also post your samples in Alternative Tilt & Shift Thread.
If you or anyone else can show some examples with 80mm Biometar or even better 50mm Flektogon, it would be appreciated.
And yes, welcome to the forum!

Thanks for your comment.

I also have Biometar 80 MC and Flektogon 50 MC, they are both performing well with the same config. I don't have pictures on this PC made with them. I also using them with film on Pentacon Six Camera. Lovely lenses.

Yes, this lens is heavy and the 1Ds too. So, after my 3 hours of photography, I enjoy to be back at home :-)

My setup is simple. Everything is handled and mainly wide open with the maximum 10° Tilt. One difficult thing is the light. The body have difficult to metter when tilted so, I'm using manual mode, metter without tilt and keep the same speed during the whole session. I have the same "problem" with my Canon TS-E 24mm too.

Focusing is not easy when you begining this but since I switched my focusing screen for a EC-S (super precision matte), this is much easy and reliable.

After this, I don't use more post processing than enhance a bit contrast and saturation.

That's it :-)

Welcome to the forum, Fabian.

About the images: sorry, but I think these images show why it's not recommended to use long focal lengths for tilt... (at least for small format).

Can you develop your idea in order understand what need to be changed/improved?

Well, I would like to see a headshot with both eyes in focus, or something like that. The picture I have in mind is that effect should be used to make it 'technically right' not to be exaggerated.

Nice! Do you have any with 50mm tilted and stopped down to get both foreground and background in focus?
