I find that a black smear is constantly found on the chrome that surrounds the rear element. I mention it because I have a particle on an internal element that looks (under magnification) to be similiar to a piece of sheared black plastic.
Looking at the caps, I can see that there are shavings that have not yet detached.

Yes, they do, but I don't think they can make it to the inside of the lens. Any particles inside usually come from within the lens (detached flake of paint, grease... etc.)
