p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Sigma 120-300/2.8 at the Zoo

Before taking this lens to its maiden photo trip, I took it to a local zoo to see if it can cut it. It was around midday, so the light wasn't so forgiving.
My primary purpose was to see how it would perform wideopen at 2.8 and 4, at 300mm and with tc 1.4= 420mm. The flexibility to shoot at various focal lengths instantly without having to switch lenses--I got this one to take place of 70--200/2.8 and 300/2.8

I have the same lens and like it a lot, were you able to use a monopod? What body? A few of the subjects are too deep for the thin depth of field (or on the flamingo you could have focused on the eye instead of the body), or maybe there was some subject movement blur (not lens softness). What shutter speeds did you use?
