Hemlock and Queen Anne Lace look almost identical, I'd doubt that hemlock has completely exploded in north texas.

Very Nice composition Regina.
Thanks.

Is the holy trinity in your collection the 85mm 1.4, 105mm 1.8, and 135mm 2.0?

Rafael, sorry for the misunderstanding! The holy trinity is the 14-24mm, 24-70mm, and 70-200mm f 2.8 autofocus. I have only the 85mm 1.4 (the D version of the autofocus). Unfortunately, I do not have the manual lenses 85 and 105, but
I do have the manual 135mm 2.8.
I bought all my manual lenses locally. I do not dare to buy from eBay.
Regina.

Samy, I love the turtles. I have been kayaking on the Charles, and we have many baby turtles this year. I need to bring my camera next time. I love your pics.

I used to love the 24 NC but now find the corners really mushy so have stopped using it.

Scott, I am just reporting what ABC reported here 2-3 days ago. They warned about sightings here locally and regarding touching the plants which were reportedly confirmed to be Hemlock. The same story was repeated on the 10pm later that same night. No idea as to the validity, but don't think I will try to find out the hard way.

So, I just picked up this guy. (as an aside, I always forget how good KEH Bargain grade lenses are...just some fine superficial marks, mostly on the hood, and one decent sized speck of dust in the lens.).

(shot of the lens taken with the AI 135mm f/3.5, so it qualifies for the thread)

Have barely had a chance to shoot anything with it, but first impressions are very positive. Rather sharp, and a gorgeous rendering. Just two quick test shots outside after getting the lens - D750 w/ AIS 180mm f/2.8 ED:

Jordan, have we seen your on this thread before? Welcome! And that's a much shinier copy of the 180 than the one I had. The 180 is very well regarded here.

Love that first Heron shot, Samy. You caught some motion, and a great reflection as well.

Speaking of air quality, here's a couple of wildfire particulate filtered farms at sunrise. 55mm f2.8 AIS.

I don’t believe so. Over the years, I’ve only owned two Nikon lenses before the last 2 weeks (non-AI 35 PC and the 105/2.5 about 10 years ago, and I think I posted images from there in the Alt image thread at the time). I recently picked up a D750 and a handful of affordable lenses, but I’m primarily a Canon shooter (R5 and R8).

I wasn’t going to get a lens like the 180 at first, but it’ll be a great lens to bring out on my Canon bodies too from time to time.

Jordan,
Welcome to the thread, and great find on the 180. Nikkor lenses are like Lays potato chips - you just can't have one.

Well that was quicker than I expected. Colin mentioned live view for IR a few pages ago, and I got to thinking about one of the best live view cameras (5DmkII) that I wasn't even using (guilt) anymore. So off to the land of Life Pixel for a wizard of OZ rebirth. Still have to create a profile to image the handful of test photos, but let me say - I love live view focusing IR. No lag, instant feedback, multiple magnifications for my marginal eyes - and more resolution. Expectations are high - will reality match?

Regarding Poison Hemlock, I found several news articles reporting wide spread 'explosive' growth this year.
Poison Hemlock is said to have purple spots on the stem, and this is lacking on Queen Ann's Lace...

Here's a walk around a gamma ray telescope. When the rays encounter the atmosphere they emit Cherenkov radiation, detected at the focus of the 12 meter reflector by photomultiplier tubes.

I want to work on my color IR profile some more, but the black and white profile exceeds my expectations by a mile. Controlling the highlights has always been a challenge for me in IR. With the old 5D I had to chimp focus, and bracket exposure resulting in, many frames to get best exposure, and focus. With this rig it is way way easier. I not only can see the focus through live view, but also the exposure. Really chuffed about live view - thank you Colin.

Look for some of the lenses from Japan. They are in fantastic shape. KEH is another go-to, and you get a six month warranty as well from them.
