It's a donated item from a former portrait photographer here in town. Now it sits in our local historical museum.
I'm digging the air bulb shutter and electrical connectors. This thing is a beast and has a monster wooden rack & pinion gearing for focus adjustment ... not sure I'd want to try too much location work with it though.
It's hard to get a sense of scale from the WA pic ... larger version in the Alt Pic Thread.
It always takes me 'back in time' when I see it ... makes me want to go under the hood and focus it with its Rack & Pinion.
The lighting in the 'museum' was not what you might expect. It's just a big old building with concrete floor, high ceilings and a 'hodge-podge' of different colored flourescents and tungsten strewn around ... much more warehouse than museum, which probably adds to 'old look'.
I simply shot ambient (5.6 1/2 sec iirc) and quickly corrected color in post, burned some distracting background and tossed in a smidgen of vignette.
Great presentation Kent! Available light subjects take a keen eye. One I don't have. Very impressive. Love the subject matter too. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks.
It is more a learned necessity than anything ... I never have gotten good command of flash/strobe & modifiers ... but I do know how to use a tripod and cable release ... I guess that's part of why I really 'love' this big ol' camera.
Btw ... your eye is PLENTY keen, making it tough on the rest of us.
