You can see here, that my 7-year-old son, Dane, "corded" his first racing tire this past weekend and he did it with style by doing his best driving yet and winning his class by a huge margin. His twin sister, Cyan, also did her best driving to date, taking third place by a very small margin behind the second place driver. Amazing that these kids will have 10 years of competitive driving experience by the time they get their licenses!

I want to know how we get Baby's First Corded Racing Tire into the baby book!

got my vote...I like it, I like the story behind it, and I like the image, it tells you the story, and it will be a good memory for you. If I ever have any kids, I am going to get them into karting, I would love to share my love of motorsport and racing with my kids.

Thanks, Travis. I've been autocrossing for just over ten years and in the last 1.5 years, my kids have been able to participate in "Formula Junior" so it's a family thing now and we're having a lot of fun with it.

see the two hash marks on the tire, just above the gradient area...that is tire chord, means he wore out his first race tire, and when you start wearing out tires, you are driving harder, pushing harder...and eventually spending more $ on tires, at least that is what it means to me!

It's when you wear completely through the rubber and into the "cords" that make up the structure of the tire. You can see a patch of the cords showing in this shot. That patch got significantly bigger in subsequent laps so we're due for another set before our next race.

I so wish I would have been able to get my son into karting. I have a 3rd gen RX-7 that I used to SCCA race a bunch of times. Times are tough, though, and karting simply isn't an option.

But your pic definitely has my
