I just purchased a used 300 f/2.8 non IS from a fellow member and am looking for a lens cap for it.

Just wondering if anyone knows whether the current replacment part E-145 front lens cap fits the non IS model or could provide a alternative for this lens?

The lens came with a non canon cap that fits over top of the front element, but you can not place it on while the hood is on the lens.

canon would charge, in all seriousness, about $250+ for those caps
(i think they charge $500 for the hood)

(although it's more that teh canon pricing is the what is stunning)

I have the Optech for the 300/2.8 IS and 400/4 DO but it is soft, not the same as a hood/cap that protects the front glass when the hood is reversed.

as EB-1 said the optech is soft. i use mine as a dust/rain cover with the hood on not as storage for front impact. the Don Zeck cap is the optimal cover for storage.
