Some recent mixed bug shots from the garden. Only the third time I've spotted what I assume is a mayfly in the garden. I rescued it from the pond surface but was a bit wary of doing this as I gather the female lays it's eggs as it drowns on the water, however this one did fly off when it had dried rather than jumping straight back in the pond as a previous one did when i attempted to rescue it.

The 3rd shot is a mayfly nymph. Stoneflies have 2 caudal cerci, and are found in fast running water.
Nice shots! I love the colour on the first 2.

agree , mayfly nymph.
think the "mayfly" is a caenid mayfly. has much smaller eyes compared to normal mayflys , lavae is probably same species

Thanks for the comments and IDs - appreciated

Guess the mayfly nymph and adult makes sense although they were from different ponds

Thanks for the comments Matt,Remy and Mel - appreciated.

Mel - I'm nearly always slightly disappointed when I shoot elsewhere, very rarely get the same quantity of bugs that I can find in my own garden. Mind you that just might be that I know where to look . Not suprisingly though there are many species I just don't get in my garden that I would love to find- eg Robber flies for one.
