Very casual, quick shot of my husband today. He'd been working on a project for me (installing a paper roll for my studio space). I asked him if he'd sit in this used chair I'd bought, so I could see how it looked in the space with a real person in it. He hates being photographed, but he welcomed the opportunity to sit down. I could have cropped out the light stands, but I love the whole scene as is because it tells a story. For those of you who haven't heard of "honey do" it's "Honey do this, Honey do that..." :-) Oh, and lest you think I worked this poor man to death, he came home and worked for hours in the yard-- even after I suggested he relax!

Busy week, probably can't comment on shots, but wanted to post this shot. All the best to everyone.

My best advice for a budding photographer, marry and exhibitionist.

And a very good one, as usual. Alas, it does not say "family" to me.

I'm very familiar with the latter words but alas, not with the former.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

Thanks, Yakim. My interpretation of the theme means the image can either scream family, or it can "be" family, as in a family member. Everyone's different, that's what makes it so interesting.

It only takes two to make a “family.” One was shooting the photograph. Nice image Beverly!

Cheers!

A pleasing photo, Bev. I enjoy the soft features and lighting, and the peripheral glance into your work environment. It certainly suggests family, and the adoration one has for their family members. I'd only perform a slight counter-clockwise rotation to straighten the horizon, for the sake of leveling the chair.

Best,
John

Thanks Greg!

Thanks, John! I rotated it. I was so busy admiring the way my husband was posed in the chair and how the spontaneous lighting looked I didn't even notice the background. ha So much for quick shots. Thanks for the great eye and comments.

I'm diggin' the light stands / studio look.

I'm the familial support system to my wife's quilting passion, even though I don't sew ... so I get it.
Kinda tough to come up with a 'family' shot that doesn't look snapshot, portrait or too cliche' ... interesting spin, although he does look a little 'posed'.

Thanks. I used to make quilts, too, still have some in the closet ready to finish. And actually he wasn't posed. I fully expected him to just sit in the chair upright, and for a moment he did then he melted into this saying "aaaaahhh!" :-) Happy honey-doing to you.
