Response to time and neglect. Peeling paint makes for rusted metal.

I decided to change my entry after some feedback on the critique forum. This photo is from the same rusty series.

I love the rust but I'd prefer if you concentrated only on it. The weeds seem a bit out of place IMHO.

Thanks Yaki. Don't make me even more schizophrenic than I already am! I have already changed this once! Ack!

The weeds, we will pretend are part of the response to neglect. A once useful water pipe discarded and left on the ground to do battle with the elements. The weeds are starting to have their way. I like the contrast, of old metal and new green growth, both in color and substance.

(I do like my previous version of the big pipe though it's a bit boxy. If you look closely the in focus rusty spot looks just like N. America!!) (Okay I have an overactive imagination.)

I like this one too, maybe a pinch better than the first.

The green leaves add for an interesting contrast of colors and concepts (metal vs vegetal, old vs new, red-rust vs green)....

I'm sorry if I wasn't understood. As a pic - by itself - I like the contradiction between the colours and between the decaying metal and the new life emerging. What I wanted to say is that WRT the theme (and also WRT the caption), I'd rather see just the rust. Thus, if I look at the weeds with the "filter" of the theme, they distract my attention. Without it, they add a whole new dimension to the pic.

I hope I fared better this time.

Gotta say the theme this week is a 'bugger'. (American expression for challenging or difficult.) We can see this because almost everyone has included the word response in their title. So coming up with a title was equally challenging.

Almost anything can be a response to something. It seems like it is a noun and a verb at the same time? (an adverb?) As in your response fared well. But the word is defined as a reaction, or response to something, which could literally mean anything. So in my opinion this was a tough assignment.

As for the weeds they create some context that time has passed which in the case of metal leads to oxidation.
