Thanks Carsten...my only problem(well not really a problem!), is the Leica is a little, just a little, cost prohibitive!!!

thanks! the lens is the R 350/4.8 telyt. sadly sharpness should be better. my hand holding technique with the nex-5n leaves something to be desired and iso is boosted past the point where a lot of feather sharpness is lost in noise.

@Almass...thanks for the link! Interesting reading, and comparing! I do have to say I would love to have your income to be able to have just a few of the lenses you mentioned!! WOW! Especially the 90 AA!! Maybe one of these days! For now, I'm very happy with my 50R Lux, and hopefully in the future will get the 90 Cron non AA...time will tell!

The focusing on my copy was also quite stiff. Get the Zeiss second-hand, great lens, and much cheaper. Get the ZF if you don't need to shoot on Nikon, and save another couple of hundred.

I already have the Sigma 85, which I find excellent for portraits when doing photo shoots. I'm currently shooting the 90 R Elmarit(loaner) and love the rendering it provides. And it does portraits really well, too! I had the ZE 85 awhile back, and while I liked it a lot, especially Ronnie's images, I think I like the Leica rendering a touch more...not that I can afford an 80 Lux anytime soon!!

+1, good advice. Z 85 Planar is a bargain (especially used ZF)

that was taken in portland, OR.

in the bay area i think i've only seen the chestnut-backed variety, but i haven't paid a lot of attention.

nope, both the image i just posted and the one douglas asked about are of black-capped chickadees:

Actually, it just seems to be a different name (from Wikipedia):

"These birds are called either "chickadees" (onomatopoeic, derived from their distinctive "chick-a dee dee dee" alarm call) or "titmice" in North America, and just "tits" in the rest of the English-speaking world."
