I like this image.

Personally, I find it unique and it definitely has mood.

I like the shadows on the left of the image. They add to the composition without taking away from the subject IMHO.

It does look very other-worldly... Nice take on the assignment. I'm betting you won't be the only B&W, what with B&W orchid studies, etc. Lots of options, and not all flowers are that colorful, anyway...
