Some of my favorite "Alts" are tilt/shift lenses. They are manual focus, they can be use to turn a different perspective vs. a standard fixed lens - however my T/S's of choice are from the wonderful Canon line-up.

Do those qualify?
I've always felt the Canon TS-E's are just as "Alt" as third party auto lenses. JMO

I'm really glad to see this thread! The TS-E 90 is one of my most used lenses for general purpose photography, not just tilt/shift stuff. Whenever I use it I always feels like I'm using an alt lens, due to the manual focus and character of the lens and wish I could post here. Thanks

Three of my grandparents are from Germany - one from Ireland - my parents did not learn/speak German. One of the first companies I worked for had a large employee base of Germans - and others from Europe and the common language was German & English. I got to learn some German - mostly industry related words & phrases - the guys would tease the hell out of me because I "lost my accent" and would change an English lead conversation to German (with a grin) - just to remind me. That was 30 years ago and I have forgotten most of what little I learned.

Biometar 80/2.8 for Pentacon 6 with P6-Canon Tilt adapter:

P6 is a medium format system so the coverage circle is big and allows making adapters with tilt feature for 35mm. I was trying to get both the couple and the roof in focus but there was not enough tilt available.

Here's a Hartblei 65mm Super-Rotator on a Canon 5DMk2 @ F3.5, with some vertical shift for framing and some left-right tilt to get the face of the post in focus.

Like the 2nd TS-E 90 dune shot with the dramatic low-angle side lighting which highlights the ripples more.
Looks like a great dog. Wish mine was more patient when taking landscape shots or I would take him more.
Instead, he ends up rapping his leash around my tripod legs.

I have a Mir-26B 45mm and a Arax tilt adapter on the way. I'm anxiously awaiting both pieces so I can finally get my feet wet with some selective focus photography on my 5D. I'll be sure to update with some pics once everything arrives which is going to be at least another week I'm sure...

edit: I thought I would add, this "kit" only cost $270 delivered. I really wanted to go the Mamiya / Mirex route but found the cost savings to be hard to resist for this entry level setup.

The adapter was $125 new, the lens was $95 used on eBay (I made an offer below their asking price and they accepted it). With shipping costs it adds up to $270
