Hi Folks,

I have a 35-70 Zeiss Contax that I bought about two years ago from KEH. Corner sharpness wasn't all that I'd hoped for, so I sent it off to Germany for inspection, calibration, etc. It cost me a bloody fortune, over a thousand $$. Oh well. However, I recently noticed that the rear assembly, including the f stop ring and the rear element, is loose. I don't know if something is broken internally or if it's just a matter of tightening something. I'm certainly not sending it back to Germany. After a bit of searching I came across Zeiss Ikon Contax Camera Repair, run by Henry Scherer.

Loads of info on his site. Have any of you dealt with him before?

No mention of the Contax RTS series SLR cameras, which is what that lens was designed for.

Wouldn't it be better to use Keh's own repair service, especially for a relatively simple job as this one?

Also you may want to contact TOCAD, the official Contax service company. They are supposed to do out of warranty repairs as well.
