Does this make you “thirsty?"

Cool idea, I like!

A bit too dark for me though, not much, it's lacking in a smidge more detail.

Thanks for the input Andy. You’re right. I replaced it with one that’s a little better lit, but these bottle are hard to shoot with one speedlight and no diffusion. Might have to go with plan “B."

Great idea. Makes me wonder why I was silly enough to look for a triangle instead of just making myself one? So simple....

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

I guess it’s a matter of interpretation. Last week I drove myself crazy looking for curves, and then I noticed people making their own in a very artistic way - which is above my skill level, however; it is a good exercise for me to think outside of the box!

Nice idea, well-executed. . . and the Mark West Pinot Noir is very good. Enjoy.

Thanks Adam. It is a great Pinot — mostly because it is what my wife and I served at our wedding!

Nice idea. Makes me thirsty! I like the first shot better. Maybe some creative lighting could enhance the look. It might be cool to try some high-intensity backlighting to illuminate the bottles.

My goal was to let the bottle seals form the triangular form. I tried lighting from behind, but I guess I just don’t have enough candle-power to penetrate the grape juice!

Plan B works for me. Just straighten the bottom line.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

I like the first idea. Did you try to shoot with backlighting from a bright window instead of a flash? Not sure if it would help or not, but it might give you some nice reflections off the glass.

@Chris - I set up a make-shift still-life shooting table in my garage for this shot and unfortunately there wasn’t enough natural light to create the right effect. I tried back-lighting the bottles, but the density of the wine was preventing even a little light to shine through. Perhaps if I had used white wine.....

@Al - I know it’s on the dark side — however, my goal was to allow the bottle seals to create the triangular form. I guess I fell short. No matter, I’m having a blast participating and most of all — Learning!
