Hah very good chart. I hate when people show me their "awesome" Iphone pics when it's just unviewable.

What it really needs is a spentoomuch marker .

Great post! I tend to put "gearfaggotry" at the level of a total beginner though, not in the middle. MIght have to add a "Z" axis to the graph to incorporate luminosity's spentoomuch factor.

Does gearfaggotry = NAS?

I may never get better...

Haha...lol. Gearfaggotry

I originally thought this was some elaborate semiconductor response curves

It's still best to start photography at a young age and grasp the essence of it at your twenties. In that way photography and art becomes 2nd nature.

I think though I may be wrong, its saying you could forever get stuck in a gear whore phase, and think you are great at photography?

At /p/ you could go either way, (a) start thinking you are really good or (b) suddenly find that you suck?

I believe this originated at reddit.com and their pages are called reddits and usually identified with slashes. /p/ is the photography reddit.

Excellent Shutterslam!

Like most of my life, my personal curve is a little backwards. I was handed an old Kodak Duo 620 when I was 11. I was a 'one exposure per motive' photographer until after I graduated High School, got a job and could afford more film. Somehow I slid backwards to the 'my phone has a digicam' about ten years ago and all my pictures looked pretty. Now I'm somewhere on the 'exposure'/'auto mode' slope waiting to fall into the 'HDR hole' Not sure I'm looking forward to that

There needs to be an extreme pixel-peeping stage, where any tiny minute bit of noise ruins your day.

For some people, there might be a circular polarizer addiction phase as well.

Maybe a place where one goes "who needs primes? zooms are the best".

And for Canon users, there's clearly a zone where they go "when I get L lenses, all my shots will be awesome!"

For Nikon users it goes from reading Ken Rockwell, to Thom/Bjorn etc.
