Nardi FN.305 (1933); Nikon Z6 w/CV 50/2 Apo Lanthar @ f/2
They are all very cool and they all have that 3 dimensional rendering, but for some reason, to me this one has most of it. Really pops!
I got myself a new lens:

See my nice Zeiss collection so far

Out of all my Zeiss lenses, I find this 85/1.4 Planar to be the most stubborn lens. It has a double character: at f/1.4-f/2.2 it is nice and soft with a build-in Orton effect. Stopped down it is that ideal landscape lens with nice punchy contrast.
Character aside, this lens has a ton of CA, often not correctable. As bad as, or even worse than the 100 Makro-Planar It also suffers from focus shift at MFD to 5m.
The MFD of 1m is rather disappointing. I am used to the fine Makro-Planars and the 135 APO (80cm MFD).
Rocking the focus ring back and forth usually works fine, but with this lens and its innate softness wide open, I often find it difficult to see exactly when the focus is at its sharpest. At/near MFD, the lens never gets tack sharp in the center.
Nevertheless, that character, that rendering
Also the colors of this lens are really really good! I would say as good as the 35/2 Distagon! Really happy to finally have it in my collection.
By the way, does anyone know if this lens has any lead in the glass? I cannot find it on the internet or on Zeiss websites.
