P.S. Biologically speaking, a cucumber is actually a fruit. But from a culinary perspective, it can be considered a vegetable, at least according to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cucumber().

Rich, I like the repetitive concept here. I'd like to see more of the top and bottome rows, tho. Looks very crisp.

Thanks Chris. Unfortunately, a larger crop would start to show some of the plate, which was very white and IMO distracting.

I find it interesting that you choose to light it from the right instead of the left.

I do like the arrangement, however I would have thought that lighting from left to right would have made the color variations of the skin 'pop'.

Thank-you for your comments.

Regarding the lighting, I tried various set-ups, starting with two umbrellas and much softer light. But the result struck me as somewhat bland. I also tried direct flash from both the left and right. IMO, lighting from the right was the most interesting, as it was the only one to produce any sort of shadows on the cucumbers.
