I had a hard time processing this shot. I wanted to do a B&W shot. The contrast was intentionally lowered. I felt that with the original contrast, the hands has a much darker tone than everything else, and thus taking too much attention IMO. And it's also the reason that I kept the hands closer to the edge. However with the contrast lowered, I find the subject disappearing into the background, and as you said lacking in tonality. However I settled with the current form as I find here is something unique about it, the whole thing look like they are made of plaster.
I think I'll work on The B&W conversion more when I get home, will probably post a few other versions and framing that I have taken too.
