Hey guys,

I actually joined the forum for the buy/sell forum, but I figured that since i'm here, I should introduce myself and post some of my work...

Fantastic work, both in shooting and processing. I would be interesting in how you achieved your Noir look, if it isn't too secret or complicated. I've been looking at different techniques to achieve this, but have failed miserably.

As a big fan of the film noir look, I really like all of these. My only nits would be:

#1 would look better if he had a snub-nosed revolver.

#2 I might have shot with a deeper DOF to get her hand in focus.

Minor nits, really. Very well done.

Good to see the work in a series, it shows consistency in your photo making , I wish more photographers were more project focused instead of one shot random wonders.

Nice series.

I agree on the snub nose revolver...you could use a 1911 .45...but the plastic guns don't work for the era. I do like the DOF in the first one though. A big .45 looking at you there would be the bees knees.

I really like the grain too...also era correct feeling.

Yeah, the gun is a bit of a problem for me too, but it was as close to I could find to a real 1911...

It's just a standard police issue .45, and the guy in the first shot is a philadelphia detective, so I went with it. I was holding out for the possibility of finding another gun, but I just felt the focus and dof and feeling in that shot was too perfect not to use, incorrect gun or not...

There are some other things that aren't 100% period correct, but then again, i'm not too sure I really needed to be 100% accurate with the props and such, as long as I stayed true with the feeling and meaning of 'film noir'...
