Good Evening all,

Here's this weeks entry. This was my first time playing around with smoke, and I really didn't have any set plans for a specific outcome. This one caught my eye with an intriguing subtle human form that looked to me like a female dancing. I thought what the hey, so here she is...

Taken using insence, and a speedlite behind and below the center of the frame. Thanks for looking.

Terrific shot, and great execution. I've never tried to photograph smoke before, but you've inspired me.

Thanks a lot Endre for the kind words. I had tried a few other setups with using colored gels on the flash, but I am pleased to have ended up selecting one of the au' naturale vesions.

. I am slowly learning that sometimes it's the simplest approach that works best.

I have seen many folks work with smoke, and I must say it was as interesting as it was challenging (at least the way I was doing it). I was shooting these in my garage in total darkness using a little flashlight, turning it out just before blinding myself with each shutter pop...

I must admit I am prejudice against cigarettes (they killed my father) but this pic is really lovely.

I am very sorry for the loss of your father. My father had half of one lung removed because of smoking (and has since quit). FYI: this was not taken using a cigarette, but an incense stick instead. See original post:
