This is a stray cat that hangs out around my house. Since I got her spayed earlier in the year, I try to feed her and keep an eye on her. She often hangs out on my deck, and I liked the shadows cast by the railing in the morning. She cooperated by letting me take her photo (through my door).

Subject, light, composition. All three key elements of the pic blend harmoniously together to create a beautiful pic. Then again, the colours are a bit muted so I guess it would look even better if you go all the way and convert it to B&W.

Great composition! To diverge a bit from Yakim, IMO muted colours sometimes work very well and this is one of those cases. Nicely seen and captured.

Thanks for the comments! I wondered about b/w vs color, but decided to leave the color this time. I may tweak the image tonight to see if I can come up with a version I like better.

Kurt, one of the things I liked best about the shot was the shadows. In fact seeing those as I was "talking" to her through my door is what made me go get the camera!

AntiPode - I learned a new term this morning. I'd not heard of "moggy" before. You have to love all the things you learn on these forums.

Nice composition. And subject! I love the eyes, they are fantastic. She might be a stray but she seems well fed and groomed, so she can't be doing too badly.
