Here are two shots that I took to test the Rokinon 85/1.4 that just arrived. They were both taken under typical conditions. The first set (this post) is a test of corner sharpness with lousy indoor kitchen light at ISO 100, using a tripod and mirror lockup. The second photo is a typical boring kid shot testing sharpness more toward the center, again indoors at night, this time at ISO 800 (the subject can't sit still, I'm afraid). All shots were on a 5DII. For each shot I present full frame straight from camera (white balance and exposure fixed in raw conversion), a 100% crop, and sharpened versions. Here's the first set. I used SmartSharpen in PS on the sharp crop: lens blur, 100%, I think .6 radius.
Evaluation: The lens is pretty darn sharp even in the corners f/1.4. My Zuiko 50/1.2 certainly couldn't do this. With a little sharpening in post, the result exceeded my modest expectations. The only real annoyance so far is the lateral chromatic aberration, which is clear in the printing on the menu.
