First I want to say you guys are so talented! I'm very new to photography and happy to say I just purchased my first DSLR. (Canon 50D) I was out this morning in the fog and saw a flock of Pigeons flying around and snapped a few shots. I don't have photo shop, yet, but edited them in Aperture. All I have is a kit 28-135 lens and I can't wait to start building up my equipment. Please feel free to comment.
Hopefully some day I can capture some of the photos all you FM'rs capture....
Welcome to the Forum Jeff and congrats on your new gear and your first post here.
Not easy to shoot in fog as I have found out on many occassions so better to get a day with good light to try out your new equipment although I can well understand the urge to get out there and click away
Also better to post the pics here directly to make it easier to give some feedback. And you will get some great advice here too which will help you develop your skills with whatever equipment you use
Martin
If you would help me catch a fish like the one in your Avatar I will do all I can to help you with your photography
Welcome to the whole new game! Actually I like the first shot, very moody. With every shot and every shooting condition something is learned and all good comes from that. You are going to really enjoy things when the sun comes out!

Doves...Pigeons what's the difference? Just Kidding! I guess I was a little excited about posting my first pics and introducing myself rather then paying enough attention to the photos. I get a little ahead of myself sometimes.
Thanks for the responses!
Karl I love to fish and that is actually why a purchased the camera. I'm planning trying to capture images for fishing articles that a write and maybe selling a few stock images to some magazines. I know how to catch big fish now all I need is to learn how to take a good photos. I had a little practice with my Dad's D60 before I decided to purchase my Canon. First two are shots of my little brother and dad with a big walleye and the third is a pike....Show more →
Hey, these guys are cheating already, I know that trick where you extend the fish out to the camera to make it 'larger' Actually those are HUGE! Man you guys know how to fish, what area are you from? My neighbor does tournament fishing, Jack Dalzell is his name from Amherst OH.
Nice shots, maybe you can share some great fish leaping shots, that is something rarely seen here
Man you are killing me with those fish

Karl I'm from North/Central part of Minnesota. We have great fishing. Sorry FM'rs it seems like my conversations always turn to fishing! So I won't post anymore fishing pics unless they are with my new camera but Karl if you do want to see really big fish you can go to my website and look at a few muskies we have caught . Again sorry guys not trying to promote any fishing stuff just always seems people like to see big fish pictures and that is why I bought a good camera.
In regards to fish jumping that is one thing I will be working on. I need a longer lens. Hopefully can save up in the winter time....
