Ok, it is not a work of art but I put it up as food for thought and perhaps inspire others who have greater skills to try the technique out...

Moonless night but I do suffer with some light pollution (see the top of the photo - made by a street light.)

The subject: a rusty old BBQ

The only illumination was one of those keyring LED torches. (A single led powered by 3 deaf aid batteries.)

I just walked round the subject 'painting' it with the torch until a gut feeling told me it was done!

An old pro described to me how he used a similiar technique on film with a flashlight while taking
pictures of gears on the floor. The studio he was working for was amazed, not knowing how he did it.
