p.1 #1 · The tilt thread

I have rediscovered tilt with my franken-tilt lens. Why not have samples of tilt in one thread?
I previously shot with canons 24 and 90 ts-e. I have the Minolta auto bellows III and now the franken-tilt.

Here is a few of my photos. Please share yours.

Anden, you rock! ;-) Now I have to rig up some sort of tilt bellows contraption. I have an olympus bellows I was thinking of DIY-machining into a tilt bellows, at least for the front standard. wouldn't be too hard....

I use tilt a lot, in fact my TS lenses rarely get shifted, but I use it to get more apparent DOF;

Thanks Guys!

Mike! Thanks for your contribution. Very nice. Great to see tilt the other way. I usually minimize DOF but should do it the other way around too. :-)

Anden,

#2 That's a cool perspective of the Crown Fountain. Where were you standing?

All v. nice images. I want to contribute, but the only camera I have with me on this other job here in the Caymans is a Canon S90!

I do have a house (interior/exterior) to do as soon as I get back (first week December) so look forward to posting then (not Alt. glass, though, just the 24PC-E).

Anden, can you add link images of your 'franken-tilt' lens? cheers, kl

Anden; forgive me—a missing word or two. I would like images of the franken-tilt lens itself, if you have any handy.

regards, kl

I think the shots that make things look like miniatures are played out, but this is really great. It reminds me of some sort of pine cone.

How did you mount a P645 FA lens on a Mirex adapter? I thought they were sold only in M645 and Hasselblad 6x6 mounts?

Yes that's right. I was interested in improving on the 35mm FD so I bought a copy of the 35mm Mamiya, initially just shooting it "straight" on my 1ds2 and planning to buy the Mirex. I wasn't too thrilled with it, I thought I may have a so-so copy, so I started some discussions with Jim C and Jim B to see if a Pentax FA could be attached to the Mirex by modifying the plate (I didn't own one so Jim C sent me some photos and Jim B gave me some suggestions of how he might modify the Mirex if it all worked out OK)..... However before I bought anything I got in touch with Mirex and asked them if they could modify one and make sure that it could top down the lens. They checked and decided they could make an "inter-adapter" that could be attached to the Mirex (Mamiya version), so that I could still use it with Mamiya lenses. It's still in prototype form as the lens has to be stopped down with a rubber band, and when it's a high (almost extreme) tilt or shift positions it just moves out of infinity focus. I'm looking forward to a new rev when they come up with the necessary mods, but in the mean time I checked out the Mamiya and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I think that using liveview now gave me better critical focus.

I'm planning on a shootout between the Mamiya, the Pentax and the Canon FD at some point. I found that the FD was also not quite getting to infinity (and I only saw this using liveview) so I need to thin the adapter a touch before I can get started.

Here's another one from the Pentax...crazy light on this which I did a lousy job on...
