Thanks everyone. It was my first trip to New England, but it certainly won't be my last. You are correct about The Basin, between the people, the fence and the fact that you can't get closer to the river, the options are limited!
I missed peak colors by about week, so it wasn't too bad, but I was talking to a local guy at a coffee shop and he said when the colors are peaking he leaves becasue it's too busy.
