p.1 #1 · GeoTagging - ATP Electronics?

I hava two questions about GeoTagging images:

First: Has anyone heard of or used this item from B&H Photo?
Second: What exactly happens when you 'sync' your card with a GepTagger liker this? Does it permanently write some info to the MetaData (or what)?

Maybe I will give them a call sometime. Initially it sound interesting but need to find out more. I went to the site and downloaded the media kit and in the document it does say:"compatible with any digital camera using jpeg image files".

So it should work only if you are shooting in jpg. Will now work with RAW. Unfortunately for me, one of the best devices has been produced by Nikon for Nikon cameras only. Shame Canon has not developed anything like this. Jobo does have a unit but was in short supply earlier this year.

Would be interested in other opinions as well. I supposed the other way is old fashioned. Take a notebook and write down the information as you take the shot.

From their document: "The ATP GPS Photo Finder mini performs geotagging function without the need for a computer and complicated software. All the users have to do is simply activate the Photo Finder mini while taking pictures, then insert their camera's memory card into the corresponding slot on the docking station, attach the Photo Finder mini as well and then the geotagging process will be carried out automatically. Geotagged photos can be viewed using websites such as Panoramio, Locr and Google Maps which support geotagging. ATP GPS Photo Finder mini can also produce and export route data into a "KML" log file that can be opened in Google Earth to display the path users took while Photo finder mini was activated. "

I use a program called GeoLogTag with my iPhone 3G and it works great. It creates a script that I use with software on my laptop to tag my Raw files when I import them into LR. I already had the iPhone, software for iPhone was $5 and software on laptop was freeware.

tag as I'm interested too.

I was in b&h are few months ago, asked 2 different guys about doing this and they said if it's not Nikon, forget it. I'm sure there are some good solutions out there (the iphone one sounds good!)..

You might research it a little further, but it is my understanding that the ATP products only geotag JPG files. No use for me.

Yes, it;s JPEG only as 'Brit-007' noted in the 2nd post...
