Dave - good notes...though if you bring down the brightness to avoid getting it too flat kick the contrast up. have to play back and forth a bit but try either brightness contrast layer(s) or levels layer really over doing the adjustment then masking in a bit at a time. word.
Wonderful set of images, Dave. Love the foreground leaves in the first. Nice work on the conversion. That is an amazing reflection you caputure in #4. Very cool.
Excellent shots, all of them. Luscious colors and the solitude of the area is apparent. Just got back from a trip, and will have to work backward here to find out about the tripod. Fine work as usual Dave.

David,
Where are these taken? I have traveled to the Kanab region twice in the last 18 months and plan to go again in the fall. Am always interested in new adventures.
Man, those last two rock, I've got to do that place top down next time.. looks like lots of fun! The water temp wasn't too bad when I was there monday... with fleece pants + dry-suit at least, definitely worth not having other people around, so I'd say you're not too crazy! (I got into one of the subway pools on monday for the novelty of it.. good times )
Dave, thanks for sharing more of your trip. My favs are the 2nd and 4th shot. I am glad we are able to see both versions of that 4th shot. The light is different here on the 4th shot as is your approach. Both versions are killer compositions.
Glad you guys braved the elements. Too bad about your tripod but if you had to lose it the rewards
here out weigh the loss imho.
Thanks for the nice comments, everyone. I'm just starting to print some images from this trip, and love re-living each scene to temporarily be taken away from 'that other life' in the city. Joseph, these are from the Subway slot canyon in Zion (left fork of North Creek).
