More of the fantasy voyage with Bart down the 'frozen slot of doom'. I told a friend in Kanab who has done this route 4 or 5 times before (in the summer, of course) where we had just come from, and his comment was 'are you nuts??' Next time, a full fleece and Primaloft suit under the dry suit, and thick neoprene gloves as well, plus dry boots for the long hike out. My new tripod arrives tomorrow!
david, beautiful depth in all these images, my favorites are 1, 4, 5. are any of these blends, it seems like the ones with gold highlights in the distance (#2, 3) look like they are much brighter than what the camera can handle.
Just beautiful looks like the extreme effort sure paid off you have some stunning images here love that comp in #2 as well as that awesome golden reflection in #3 and #4 . I assume these are part of the top to bottom route? Very nicely seen David

Binh, that great eye of yours again All of these are single captures, but 2 & 3 are double-processed and blended from the RAW.
I love these shots! I like all of them a lot. #1 is great, and in #3, the leaf on the rock adds a lot of interest. The composition and color in #4 is excellent. Gorgeous set!

Ooh, Look at all these fresh new thrilling takes.
Very thrilling to view. Hope you got an extra tripod Dave.
I like the leaf placed or not.
Thanks Steve. When not borrowing tripods from Bart and Deb on the rest of the trip, I made use of my ultra-light Slik Sprint Pro tripod that I had along for the purpose of shooting some videos and group shots with my pocket LX3 camera. It is very full-featured, but too prone to vibrations with the 5DII on it with any wind or water flow in the rivers. If I was like Bart, I'd be carrying 3 tripods on my pack at all times

Thanks Ray. This is the top-down route. Even if (when) I do it the next time, I'll probably go in the off-season again, as I really liked having the place nearly to ourselves (1 other couple on the route that day).

4 is freakin nuts. Love it. (number your photos!!)
5 pulls me too though feel the highlights throughout seem a tad hot. 1 i like but the fg seems blown and muddled...prob easy fix.
way to put up w/ that weather :-)

Thanks Aaron. In 5, there was a layer of very bright silt on the rocks just below the water surface, like white beach sand, which makes it look so bright. The small part in the water in 1 on the right side mid-ground that looks blown was a red rock reflection from above that washed out when I added a red filter to the rest of the image. I may play around with that a bit more, but thought it looked better as a highlight and more muddled if I brought it down to the brightness of the surrounding leaves.

Thanks Dpic. The reflected glow from the red walls above was made much more prominent in the darkness of this deep channel. When I saw that copper water below The Ball, I warmed up for a few seconds.
Wow - those are some incredible images David. I am trying to peel my jaw off the floor after seeing shots #4 and #3 - these are some amazing images that are begging to be printed very large. And displayed in a really nice place like one of my walls
Definitely worth the effort. I am really drawn to #4 and #5, not only for the execution of the shot, but they offer a more unique view of Zion. Thanks for sharing these images as they help me better understand the "lay of the land" for whenever I get around to visiting.
Dave: You really do nail the compositions. I'm in full agreement with Jeffrey's keen observation, well worth the tripod (that's easy for me to say, since it was yours) : )
You've really maintained the color and feel of the place.
