So i had the opportunity to cover one of my brothers football games in St. Joesph, MO (what an awful place) It is always a treat to cover my brother because it makes me want to go that extra mile and get a shot that is really memorable.
I shot this game differently than most. I was really shooting for the emotion rather than the action. Let me know what you think of these.
5.
i asked my brother what he was saying to him (this was after a tackle just after the ball left his hands) "excuse me mister, please stop being mean to me." haha the real quote was "Hey, are you going to keep knocking me on my ass all day or what? You are making my job much more difficult"
see, these are MY favorite kinds of shots. they are full of emotion and are just more interesting to look at. my 2 cents. i really like #4 alot. i like #12, and #13 has that classic V shape going on that one looks for in a good shot.
you are so lucky to have your brother to shoot, with your camera i mean. my son finished his high school career friday night and i have been so full of doom and gloom for the last few days. i have not even finished processing and looking at the shots that i got from friday yet. i almost can't bring myself to do it because its the last ones i will have of my baby playing football. i really need to get off of this already. i think i'm starting to make him sad now. he came home today with his mesh bag full of stuff after cleaning out his locker. it seems like these last four years have flown by so fast. i kind of wish he were going to be playing college ball, but in a way i'm glad that he's not. i am thankful that he got through these last four years without getting seriously injured, although he's a lineman and was always the one usually hurting someone else.
i do like these shots. i kind of had the same idea friday night and got some emotion too. i will post when i'm done getting them into Photoshop and uploaded online.
LOVE #9. Shooting backlit was the way to go in this light, and the B&W treatment works well (it's tilted of course but maybe you can fix that if you have enough room)
Dann, Man. . . ."I shot this game differently than most. I was really shooting for the emotion rather than the action. Let me know what you think of these. "
Well, I think that you NAILED IT!
Fantastic set.
Tons of feeling, great framing, super colors & just wonderful moods.
Great set to share, a fav-- mine is the fact, that you accompolished so well, what you set out to do.
thank you everyone for the kind words. I really appreciate it.
Yes my brother and mommmmy liked the pictures. Greg has some characters on his team, but they are all super great guys that are funny as hell (meet Zac Keller in #1)
-MARC ... I look forward to seeing you.
I am glad that you mentioned that shooting backlit was a good idea. I shot manual and basically metered every play differently and adjusted on the fly. That was really tiring and challenging but i think that it paid off.
