Then you either have a *really* good 1D II or a *really* crappy 5D

I have both. When my mirror fell out on the 5D in the middle of a 8-month long project, I used my 1D II briefly.

It is so easy to tell the files apart. The 1D II did OK and was fine, but to say the images match is just silly.

as someone who goes to paris on and off, i would suggest you save your 200 bucks - you'll need it for restaurants and museums.

Greg, I was agreeing with people in the thread who were saying that their 5D's IQ was better than their 1DMkII's. I went on to say that. If I had of said that the IDMk II was a match for the 5D I could understand your scepticism. Perhaps I should have said my 5D was more than a match for 1DMkII. Would that have been better? C'mon, did you stop reading when you got to that bit?

While I agree that IQ from a 5D1 is better than a 1D2 it's not THAT much better.

The 1D2 is no slouch by any means even at 1600.

I have both.

It's not a trade I would consider.

BTW the shutter failed on my 1DMkII on its first outing. It was replaced FOC and has been fine ever since. In my experience there is no pattern to equipment failure other than any machine is likely to let you down when you need it the most. It's just the way it is.

Notice it only measures "Mean Time", so as long as you spent most of your life so far as "Happy Time" or "Nice Time", you've still got several years between failures.
