i have the 1ds2 and just got the 1dm3. Personally, if not shooting in the studio i would go with the 1dm3.
The first thing i liked is that the 1dm3 has SENSOR CLEANING. It only took less than 2 months for my 1ds2 to need cleaning again. Second, the screen and the menus are so much nicer on the 1dm3. Thirdly, I can shoot Iso 3200 with no concerns and can get by with 6400 using neat image and the flexnr noise reduction. Fourthly, the 1dm3 has better AF performance in low light and the points are better spaced than the 1ds2. Fiftly, no more needing 2 hands to change features like iso, af, etc. Micro focus adjustments, etc. Don't get me wrong the 1ds2 is a nice camera but the 1dm3 is more versatile and get this, right now it is only like $200 more than a 1ds2 used.
How about the ability to enlarge with the 1DMkIII vs 1DsMkII? Does the crop make the 10mb act like the larger 16mb of the 1DsMkII? I do BIF and tele a lot although the 1.3x vs the full frame isn't as much as a 1.6X.....
I own both..... I was told that the pixel density is the same on both, just that the 1DS2 because it is full frame, has more of them. I like the images from the 1DS2 better than the 1D3. However, being a sports guy for the most part, I tend to use the 1D3 more. There have been times when I've been "over lensed" (sports)with my 400 2.8 w/ the 1D3 and shot with the 1DS2. Very stunning images!
Unless I'm shoting sports, the 1DS2 gets the nod. The 15mm & the 17-40 are really nice when used w/ a full frame. If you are shooting landscapes and portraits, 1DS2, all the way...

I've seen pictures from the 1D MkIII on posters on the sides of buses, and on hwy billboards, and they look amazing. So, uh yeah, you can enlarge with no problems.
4fps isn't fast(1DsMkII) , but it is getting there. My 5D was slower at 3fps. I still got shots but with BIF the wings are up or down and the images hurt by not having more fps . I set my 1DMkII N at 6fps Low and 8fps High.....
I was deciding between the 1ds2 and the 1d3 as well. I loved the newer body of the 1d3 with micro adjust, larger lcd etc but the 10 mp I thought it was too limiting. I hated the 5d body and af so that was out so it was going to be a 1ds2. But I ended up finding a 1ds3 on ebay with the bing discount with 17k shots in 9.5 condition for $3300. There are some amazing deals to be had out there. Keep looking. Or just wait for the 1ds4 to come out. The price will just keep falling.
