Hi.
I have recently got me a used 10D, in great condition.
Except, its focus is always slightly off, even with old manual focus lenses:
- with AF lenses, the camera will focus normally, I get the confirmation bleep, and fire. When zooming in I see that the actual sharp area is just a little before the intended sharp area.
- even more worryingly as a manual focus fan, when I focus by turning the MF wheel of an old Legacy lens until I see a razorsharp image in my viewfinder (I've done this a million times before with other DSLR's) and fire, the image when zoomed in is also slightly soft, when looking at objects a little nearer to the camera, they are sharp.
I've tested the above nth times, with different lenses. The sharp image I see in my viewfinder is not the same when I zoom in on the finished photo. When I intentionally misfocus a little bit, to something a little farther away, then the main subject, which looked slightly out of focus in my viewfinder, will be sharp in the finished picture.
Is this what is known as a front-focus (or back-focus) problem? Or is it something else? It's not a diopic corrector issue.
Thanks for any advice.
