glad that you got yours fixed. mine is a smidge out of spec. (still prefer it to any other prime, though)

Have you micro adjusted to your 50D? I had mine calibrated to my 5D and still had to micro adjust to my 7D... and finally, it's amazing!

..this is long story....I MA to my 50D ...and is not very bad...but not is not great...they took again 35mm L and my body (5D)...then called that they fixed the lens and my 5D (which is perfect with rest of my lenses) for some reason does not work with 35mm L and they will fix the problem....so they gave me now their 5D + my ''fixed'' lens... it was Friday ....the lens is still piece of junk....huge front focus on their rental body...they didn't fix anything (but they said last Friday that lens works great on the body that they giving me)....well story will continue Monday.

Man, I just have a hard time on my 35L now since I switched to 1Dmkiii
I shoot a subjust, a tripod ball head, about 1meter away from me.
Initially, I used center focus, the pic is not sharp at 1.4 at all.
Then I used the Focuse around the Center focus, it gave me a perfect sharp image.
However, this lens was pin sharp on my 5DmkII...
I just dont understand why.
My 1Dmkiii was calibrated from Canon few days ago, and both 70-200 F4 and 85 1.8 are sharp wide open.

It tooks me 3 hours to do the microadjustment on 1Dmkiii, eventually I setup backward +10 on the body in order to make 35L sharp....

I too captured 1000's of fuzzy (but hi IQ pictures) on the 5D MK I before I could MA my 35L on the newer cameras. This is the kind of thing that your wouldn't become a problem on a F2.8 zoom!
