Is your zoom ring buttery smooth to turn or is it hard. I got a copy of this lens used and it seems great but the zoom ring is much tighter to turn then I feel it should be.

Thanks

its smooth but does take a bit of effort to turn, which is perfectly natural given the proportional size/weight increase of all the elements your moving in there.

I wouldn't say its hard to turn at all, but it doesn't feel the same as zooming a 70-200 or similar either.

I'll second what millsart said. Takes some effort, but it's smooth.

Smooth but firm (a good quality in a lens, and a woman for that matter)

Mine is smooth, but does take a little push to turn. You don't want it super loose or it would creep when pionted up or down. I'd say if you need two hands to turn it then you should send it in to Nikon.
