I used my Canon G10 + Canon underwater housing when scuba diving in Palau last month and it worked very well. The pictures came out better than expected esp considering it was my first time to do underwater photography and had not gone diving in 6 years.
Thanks for the feedback. I found a fantastic camera for my intended use. While the video is not exactly the cream of HD quality, it will work for the family trip and won't stress me if I break it. I read through some reviews and emailed some people who use it and it fits the need. It's only going to handle video, but I think we'll use that the most after much family discussion.
