So I installed photoshop CS4. In my start menu, I get the option of Adobe Photoshop CS4, and Adobe Photoshop CS4 64 Bit. I installed the nik plugins, and lo and behold they are showing up only in the standard photoshop, not the 64 bit. Any ideas?

Argh. So what app's are there that are actually 64 bit Or did I just get caught up in the hype? Then again, 64 bit allows more than 4gb ram unlike 32 bit right>?

I have windows 7 that runs 64 bit. I have tons of plugins and programs installed including the CS4. Everything working perfectly! It runs the 32 bit apps in 32 bit mode. Hope that helps!

Yep, you can run photoshop 64bit, and use the plugin 32bit, it should just do that. And yes, you get to use more than 4 gigs of ram, I'm using 6gb of ram on my win7 64bit and it is a wonderful thing.

nik doesn't yet support 64 bit. I've been complaining about to them for well over a year. They say they are working on it (or words to that effect) but they never seem to get anywhere. By now, I think nik is all full of sh** and they don't plan to do anything for 64 bit. Accordingly, they are going to loose me as a customer and many others.

Nik has announced an upcoming update to Viveza that will run in 64 bit mode - version 2, available in December. Presumably their other plugins will be updated to run in 64 bit mode, although who knows how long that will take.
NikonAndy states you can run Photoshop 64 bit and use the 32 bit plugins. But the Nik (32 bit) plugins that I have only show up in the Photoshop 32 bit version. Am I missing something? I would be surprised if you can mix them, but would love to learn otherwise (and how to do it).

I've been running Windows 7 x64 for quite a few months (beta, RC, retail), and PS CS4.
I rarely use the 64 bit version of PS because most of my plugins are still 32 bit and don't work in the 64 bit version.
I will give the mods a heads up to move this over to the proper sub-forum (post-processing).

that is why adobe allows you to put both 32/64bit version on your 64bit machine. i have only one more 32 bit plug in to get converted theh out come the 32bit version of PS

NIK plug ins will NOT work in 64 bit CS4, only 32 bit. Very clearly stated on the NIK FAQ's. As stated above, Viveza 2, 64 bit, will be releasiing in December, the remainder should be coming out "later" :-).

You should also be aware that Nik will make you pay to use your plugins in 64 bit CS4. The upgrade for Vivesa is $99. No doubt the other four Nik products will be priced similarly.
