I bought a mint 200 f/2 VR locally from a Canadian Craigslist seller for $3500 CAD from a seller who was totally legit, so those deals are out there.

And there was a 400mm VR lens on Ebay that went for around $6000 that Nikon has registered as stolen... Just have to be careful.

All I can say is be careful with this guy. I was one of the first to contact him. I offered to purchase everything that he had, we exchanged several emails. When I asked for references and a phone number...he disappeared. A few minutes later, everything was pending to someone else.
