p.1 #1 · Optical Slave problem

Does anybody know why my Wein peanut slave will trigger an off camera 285HV with the pop-up flash but it now won't with any other flash? I've tried both on and off camera Sony and Vititar flash's from close and...nothing?? Touch nothing, fire the pop-up, and it triggers!

I'm perplexed!

This may be the cause:

Peanuts come in two flavors: traditional and "digital". I suspect you have the "diigital" which ignores the pre-flash the pop-up flash is producing and fires in sync with the main flash. With manual flash the digital variety will wait for the second main triggering flash that never comes. The traditional variety are needed for manual flash.

FYI - the Peanut is designed to either plug directly into the base of a Vivitar 283/285HV or into the end of a PC cord. I found using mine on the cord and taping it so it could best see my triggering 285HV on the camera bracket was more reliable than sticking in the base of the slave.

I have the same problem and actually I was going to ask for help here. I got the wein hot shoe slave, works fine with hot shoe flash but won't work if the flash is coming from my AB8000. Is there a fix to this problem?
