I tried a few times to capture some of the lightning storms we get here with not much success. Any tips?

Thanks Martin. I had my camera on a tripod with a wired remote. I set the camera on bulb, infinity focus. I would hold the shutter open for a count of about 15-20 or until a lightning happened. Hope this helps. This was my first try so maybe some experts will chime in and give us better direction.
Liking them allot! very nice and dramatic! post at 1000 or 1200 on the long end and you will see a big improvement on how these are presented here. Very nice colors! Makes me feel like I need to go light up my fire place and grab a cup of hot chocolate
