I don't own any super teles, but then I don't shoot ducks in flight nor do I have any desire to. I blame the lack of motivation on a bad childhood experience. At a baseball game when someone yelled "Duck!" and I turned to look at a flock of migrating ducks only to get hit in the head with a foul ball. Now just the mention of the word "Duck" or any type of "fowl" photography brings back painful memories.

Chuck, all I can say is you seem to've got some ducking issues there.
The only reason I shoot ducks copiously is that they are easy so I can still cope.
Especially with my Chubbylux 200 f/1.8.
I have a FD 500 f/8 mirror with a drop in rear filter Ok, um yeah I'm sure that doesn't count. The only white primes I currently have are a 400 f/5.6L and 300 f/4L IS. I'm saving for a 500 f/4L IS but, have been working the short L's this year.
Two for me; 400mm DO (truly hand holdable) and 500 f4 (light enough to be genuinely mobile and get the odd hand held shot). Anything heavier for me just ties me down too much. 600 f4 and 400 f2.8 just far too heavy and 800 too expensive for the wifes tastes as well. I love the 500 f4 but the 400 DO is just so light and easy to use that it still sees more action. I also have a Sigma 120-300 f2.8 when needed too.

I feel similarly, Willis, plus I really don't use anything over 500mm. However, I'd love to have 400 f/2.8 IS if I could only shoot it handheld, which would not be possible because even 500 f/4 gives me enough pain.
None here. My only white lens is the 70-200/4 IS which is usually long enough for me. At some point, I would consider picking up a 300/4 IS if I started shooting more wildlife, but I don't ever anticipate owning any white lenses that need drop-in filters, let alone owning 7 of them. I really have a hard time fathoming the idea that anybody really needs 7 lenses that take drop-in filters. They must be made of money or something. :hmm:
