I always visit Lake Crescent and the surrounding area on the Olympic Peninsula the last week in October. I was born & raised in Port Angeles, and have a fondness for the area.

After I finished here, I hiked up to Goblin's Gates & Humes Ranch on the Elwha River, however the leaves were off the trees for the most part.

photo #1 was taken at the West-end of the lake about an hour after sunrise.

photo #2 was taken just as the sun was coming up.

Nice pair of shots Randy - I like the colors and the reflection in that second image and the overhanging tree makes a nice silhouette to fill the frame. The leaves in the first one and the mist on the water looks pretty nice as well.

Nice set here really like the colors you have captured in the sunrise in #2 and the fog on the lake in #1 really adds nicely to the overall image

Thanks, Yes it's really a nice area almost anytime of the year. Although I live a couple of hours away, I would like to move back, there's just something special about the O.P.

Beautiful! Although I've been at or driven by Lake Crescent a number of times, it's always been on my way to or from another photo location, and I've always been there at midday, usually on a clear, cloudless day. Good weather for taking "postcard shots," but not much more. Thank you for showing it to me in fitting light.

Well seen and captured Randy. Looks like the pickings around the Fairholm Store were rich indeed. I've been skunked by wind for the last few months there. Oh well, an excuse to return.

The fall colours on the 1st and mist is glorious as is the colour and setting on the 2nd.

Really beautiful images. Love the fall color and rising mist in the 1st. (I'd be really tempted to clone out the metal rails

I find #1 to be quite good, but #2 is just jaw-dropping! My favorite thing I have seen in an hour of cruising the forum and leaving comments tonight. THAT shot is super special! I mean the color is unbelievable, without looking overdone (which is very hard to accomplish), and the framing and composition is stunning, IMHO
