Tt was 5DII and EF 35mmL(which I had already... and after 3000$ for a body would not afford any other EF lens for a while) ....or 5D classic + some good lenses.

Bought 5D classic...+ 85mm+135mm. ...can't be happier !
Now will give to Canon 35mmL for calibration.
And I'm done till spring (100mm IS L).

I just took a few pics around a apartment...and love that 5D!
before I thought that LCD, MA, and dust protection is a must...but I was wrong....very happy ..and those primes!
Cheers!

Congratulations...You have made a wise decision. Can't wait to see some of the shots you get next year with the Macro 100L IS.

I haven't said this for a long time, but it's still true. Any time is a good time to buy a 5D.

Already a classic. The 5D delivers excellent image quality time and again.

FF + 35 + 85 + 135mm would suit 90% of my needs and I can live without the other 10%

congrats and enjoy!

Excellent choice! I also picked up a second hand 5D, wish I had bought one much earlier.

I just got my 5D as well. Bought the 35mm f2 and 85mm f1.8. Dont know about the 135mm tho...that my be too much coin for me. Instead Im looking at the Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro. Its close enough to the 135mm for me.

Ad me to the club too.
I have been using a 1dmkII for many years and love it. I picked up a really clean 5D a couple weeks ago to have a camera with full frame now that the prices are too low to ignore.

My 35L has been practically glued to it since. I am really happy with it so far.

I also traded in a broken 30D on a new 50D recently (long story...) and I like the high resolution and image quality from it, but it hasn't left the safe since the 5D showed up.

i just went from a 40d to the 5d and i love it! the 40d was great, but the 5d is amazing! I had a Sigma 10-20, canon 18-55 IS, canon 70-200L f4 and sold it for the 5d with a 24-105L F4 and couldnt be happier. Aside from loosing some long end reach, which i needed a lot of light for anyways, since it wasnt IS, I find the 24-105 to fit my need for most situations. Im lookin into the 50 1.8 now too for some prime fun.

Agreed, I just picked up a used 5D classic from a fellow FM'r and absolutely love it. I know they are two totally different cameras but if I had to choose between my 7D and 5D, I'd pick the 5D, hands down.

All the 5D owners that have or had a camera with dust reduction,
Has dust been a problem with the 5D?
I ask because the 30D drove me nuts, the 40D has been a dream.

You will develop a deep, loving relationship with your blower and become good friends with your wet cleaning system of choice.

Congrats, I remember your previous thread when you were still deciding... you made a good choice; the 5D is one of the cameras that Canon got really right. I also use 35L + 85 + 135L, no other lenses necessary right now

I've had 2 5d classics. First one I had to sell for a 1d

2nd one I currently own and someone will have to pry the 5d+135L combo from my dead hands if they want it! Here's some street portraits I shot with it this weekend.

The 135L is a "bargain L" Save the coin, if any lens is worth it's weight it's gotta be the 135L.

5D is still an amazing camera, I own a 7D now but still have and love my 5D. I wasn't going to sell it to fund the 7D so I waited until I could afford both. The 5D and 7D is a dream combo of performance, IQ, reach, wide & speed.

I've had my 5D for 4 years now and 75K shots and its still ticking. It may see a bit less use with the new 7D kid on the block, but when it comes to wide and architecture, I will still be reaching for the 5D every time. Enjoy your camera.

And in the end, I think the 7D will also be regarded as "one Canon got right" along with the 5D.
