Yea !! Picked my new 1d4 up an hour ago and love it already. I loved the 1d3 but with qualifications. AF mainly. Cash kinda tight so traded it in on the 1d4 with 50k clicks for $1200. Sad but low count ones are already going for $1650 on ebay and $2000 on KEH. My local pro store is really good to me so it's worth it.

Also got a new 70-200 f/4is after 5, count 5 canon repairs on the old one. Shot with it for a long time and really loved it, sharp as a tack even with the EF 1.4. But I must have wore it out. So a whole new setup and it performs extremely well.

Not robbery - capitalism! You want that store to be there? They've gotta make a profit on the re-sale of that body. And to justify selling it used, they've gotta be able to make enough of a mark-up that they're not selling a new one. Top that off with the fact that if it doesn't move for another few months and MkIII's continue to fall in price....

I used to work in a store and used equipment is where we made our money. If not for selling and reselling we could not have made it while competing against the like of Henry's (big at the time) and some other stores. They used to have the 100 price at Canon and we could in no way compete. Even Minolta had a quantity price but nothing like what Canon did. Used, we had to have it.

I sure would have kept the 1d3 for $1200, but I just retired and couldn't afford to. Oh well. I'm so happy with the 1d4 it is well worth it.

When I traded in my mk2 towards the new mk3, he gave me $2000 on it and it sit on his shelf for so long I almost felt guilty. Eventually it sold and he made a profit but that may have had something to do with the mk3 getting such a bad rap.
