The Leica picture was not focused properly. You see that the bottle cap is much sharper in the Leica picture than the Voigtlander picture. Same idea with that film box on the left.

Good eye, francishmt! The two images do not share the same focused plane, indeed, whether it is correct, wrong or indifferent.

The CV definitely has higher contrast and better (to my eye) color. Sharpness, it's hard to tell from these shots. I do know that there's no way I would ever pay $7,000 for a 50mm lens, unless I win Mega Millions or something. I wonder if the 0.95 lux is better? The CV 50/1.1 looks like an awesome lens, though. If I had an M9 (see lottery comment from earlier), I would probably get the CV for it...it looks really good.

The Noctilux 50/1.1 is the now quite old version. I guess the Noctilux 50/1.0 is better (and cheaper) while I have no idea about the new 50/0.95.

Pity about the images being completely different focused. Maybe they (he?) should have used a G1 for the test.

FYI, there is no 50mm f/1.1 Noctilux; the OP made a typo in the text but the title is correct. The first generation of Noctilux is an f/1.2. The lens compared to the CV Nokton is the f/1.0 version or the second generation of the Noctilux. The current version is indeed an f/0.95.

You are right, f/1.2 it was. Thank you.

Well, then they need to do the test all over again due to the jumpy focusing. But, otoh, if I had a rangefinder or a G1 and felt for something extra fast I would buy the CV lens without hesitation.

a Noctilux is completely wasted on a G1. The only (logical?) reason to own a Noctilux over the CV1.1 at this point in the game is its wildly different character, as it has MUCH more character than the Cosina.

I don't think this thread is about logic at all...

Now that the Nokton has been on the market for a while, what do the users of the lens think?
