What is with this ongoing stereotype of dentists and doctors? They spent a fortune going to school and getting into debt to learn their professions and provide a valuable service. So, now that they can afford an M9 or S2 you are going to disparage their interest in photography? Does the fact that they make enough money to afford top notch gear mean that they buy it for vanity purposes? No, I am not a doctor and I don't play one on TV. You all know that if you could afford the S2 kit you would have one, so give it a rest.

This was a Zeiss lens, but Schneider makes a few as well and they are generally even better, imho.
Gotta agree with the Schneider stuff, very, very good glass. I got a chance to see some samples from a P65+ with the new Schneider 80/2.8 on a PhaseOne 645DF at a recent CaptureOne event here in Toronto. The results (shot wide open, with fill flash) were simply stunning even at 100%.
The samples from the S2 that are being shown are excellent. But they aren't better than the competition (Different? yes, you do get typical Leica rendering characteristics). You'll get equivalent results from any of the current MF systems with a similar MP back and equivalent lenses (IE any of the Zeiss, Schneider, Fujiblad or newer Mamiya lenses). Really the only underperforming lenses available new in the MF world are the legacy Mamiya lenses which are leftovers from the early M645 days design-wise (and are generally pretty damned good, just not up to what a high-MP back demands).

Agreed. The Leica lenses look nice but I get that kind of result already with most of my Rollei lenses for a fraction of the price
Yeah, but Graham, you're a superhero and have enough skills to make *any* camera look better. I hope you get the chance to use an S2 and post some pics.
